Hi Pete, thanks for the hints! We were just thinking about a similar sharing of the new tools to start here at ILRI. Some informal way to present the advantages and uses of the new tools. We though more about a get together perhaps with some coffee for 20-30 min once a week or bi-monthly. Having people (not necessary IT experts) explaining how we have learned and implemented the various tools. So, people would share and talk about any of the tools they have more experience with. We did not start yet, but it is good to look at your experiences and hopeful improve ours from those. Alexandra

Hi Pete, thanks for sharing these lessons, very important I believe. I think it also helps when people have expressed an interest themselves, or learn about the tools in a 'light' manner - not with the intention that they SHOULD use them. My experience is when they don't feel forced to use tools, they are very open to think about how to apply it for their own work. They may need support lateron however, some kind of follow-up.

[...] Pete Shelton (IFPRI of the CGIAR along with his co-blogger, Stephan Dorn) has a must read post for anyone trying to introduce “web 2″ tools to their work communities. He speaks of researchers here (in international agricultural research) but I believe they apply in many other settings as well.
